Taking a non-invasive approach to lifting the eyebrow and creating a more youthful look has undergone much development.
Treatments that use Botulinum Toxin (BOTOX), A Botulinum Toxin (Dysport) and / or RFAL, whether used in isolation or as part of a combination treatment, can give the same, desired effect as more traditional surgical procedures.
Ageing leads to losses in collagen, elastin and the natural fat pads. When these substances diminish from the structure of the skin, the eyebrows can start to develop a fallen look. This can combine with droopy eyelids for an appearance that looks old and tired.
Performing an eyebrow-lift requires BOTOX or Dysport to be administered to the corrugator, procerus and orbicularis muscles. These are responsible for frowning and closing the eyes and when relieved from tension, the frontalis muscles – the muscle that controls the raising of the eyebrows – can then function more easily.
RFAL works to reduce fatty tissue and tighten loose skin using a suitably sized cannula to warm the fat cells and extract them. The heat also stimulates the collagen fibres, causing them to contract and tighten the skin.
The eyelids, eyebrows and forehead are all connected to each other. Therefore, it is often the case that resolving one of the issues that contributes to ageing eyes, does not necessarily improve the condition altogether. Performing a non-invasive eyebrow lift can be used as part of a series of treatments that aim to revive a youthful look to the entire eye area, lifting the brows, the eyelids, reducing eyebags and smoothing forehead wrinkles.
Your healthcare professional can take an in-depth look at your concerns and recommend the best course of action for you. The chosen treatment may be performed on its own, or as part of a combination of procedures for more enhanced facial rejuvenation.

It is important for people to understand what can be achieved through this procedure, as the results may not be so dramatic. The eyebrow may be lifted by a few millimetres and while this may be enough for some people, others may not see the difference they expect.
BOTOX and Dysport are designed to be temporary, with the effects lasting between 3 and 6 months. Follow-up treatments and combination procedures can be arranged through your healthcare professional. RFAL can be a longer lasting solution, but clients will need to consider that ageing will continue to progress so permanence is not guaranteed. Advice regarding following up the treatment will be given by your expert therapist.
Bruising and swelling are common, temporary side effects that can be expected following either procedure. This should settle within a few days and any bruising may be concealed using make-up – your healthcare professional can provide advice with this situation. In some cases a person experiences some hypersensitivity at the treatment site, but this is not so common and will resolve itself over time.
BOTOX injections and / or RFAL may not be recommended for those who have infections or inflammation at the area to be treated. It may not be suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or who are taking certain medications. Your healthcare professional will ensure your suitability for this procedure at a pre-treatment assessment.
It is advisable to ensure you take the advice of your healthcare professional regarding when to undergo any other treatments. As with other procedures that involve the use of BOTOX, you will need to refrain from lying down and strenuous activities for several hours after the treatment, to allow for the product to settle effectively.
